"I was always strong as long as we were a team.
I crawled into somebody's heart who meant the world to me.
Love made me strong enough to be alone and set me free.
But with my friends friends to the end is where I wanna be.
With my friends friends to the end is where I wanna be.
I don't need to
but I want to
sing with you
'cause I miss you."

Scenery Chewer Presents Life in Marvellous Times
7.30 – 11 pm
FREE FREE FREE @ 93 Feet East
Bar takings go to charity Youth Music (www.youthmusic.org.uk)
Sweet Jesus. It looks like we at Scenery Chewer have somehow been blessed/burdened with what is now a regular night at 93 Feet East. The last Tuesday of every month. I have no idea how I allowed this to happen, as my brain is already straining at the thought of giving you lucky bears an amazing night of music EVERY month from now on for the rest of my life.
Thankfully, the first regular night is off to a bloody good start, with a headlining slot from Clip Stamp Fold (whose bassist has long been doing our flyers for us, so this is our way of saying thank you) and Black Daniel (who promise to be mighty). Also, returning are old favourites in new threads, Calling Cairo, and the elusive, tender and tired, Hoshal Patrick.
BCBG will be on DJ duties.
Come along. Its free.
Plus I will be there, and I am ace.

Clip Stamp Fold

Although their name is sourced from the international design project, this London four-piece have little in common with it aside from three quarters of the band being designers themselves. Sitting between Bloc Party and Joy Division and being described as 'indie' and 'post-punk', amongst other things, the band have been steadily plying their trade around England's capital since early 2009, including a jam-packed headline act at the Notting Hill Arts Club and as well as many other great gigs at venues such as The Good Ship, 333 Mother Bar, The Bull & Gate and Buffalo Bar.
Black Daniel
www.myspace.com/blackdanielspace
When it doesn’t have 5 or 4, Black Daniel has 3 members. They are brothers Luke and Lamik2000 from London town and Craig Louis Higgins Jnr from New York via Cape Cod. Meeting for the first time in Manhattan through a “friend” on the dancefloor of a lower east side disco, they quickly discovered a mutual love of animal tranquilisers and long walks in the rain. Some would say forming a band seemed like the logical progression, but it took a tour of the states with the brothers masquerading as DJs and C.LH. jnr doing his own special brand of tour management before the inevitable finally happened. Sometimes something just feels right. This wasn’t one of those times but they did it anyway.
From that moment on its been a series of Japanese stage invasions, cow bell solos, bloodied microphones, blow up dolls, leather pant experiments, uncle Warrens trumpet, wigs, wood nymphs and general good times all the way. Black Daniel will be coming to a theatre near you soon…
Calling Cairo
www.myspace.com/callingcairo
When pop, rock and synths collide: beats to rattle your bones and melodies you’ll take home. If happiness is a warm gun, then Calling Cairo are a smoking barrel.
Hoshal Patrick
www.myspace.com/hoshalpatrick
Vague assertions have placed Mr. Hoshal Patrick's first day on this Earth as somewhere around the year 1603. The matter of his continual reappearance in the halls of history up to and including the present day is keeping biographers in business and keeping historians up at night. Rumour has it he is currently roaming the lanes of London, cleverly disguised as two young musicians and their laptop, singing songs about the sea, the cinema, and everything in between.

KINGSIZE
www.myspace.com/thisiskingsize
We are really chuffed to play host to the relaunch of London band Kingsize who have been feverishly writing and re-inventing themselves as a band. They were always good before so expect something remarkable.
THE OCTOBER GAME
www.myspace.com/theoctobergame
Bedfordshire band The October Game have gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years, finding fans in those that know their stuff like Radio 6’s Tom Robinson. They launch their 2nd album “Wildblood” the week of this gig.
JUMPING SHIPS
www.myspace.com/jumpingships
Jumping Ships are a Brighton band who in their year and a half of playing together have toured the UK 3 times, been part of shows for The Great Escape, BBC Introducing, Club NME, Leftfield Glastonbury and Rock Against Racism supporting bands such as Biffy Clyro, Bombay Bicycle Club, Flood of Red, General Fiasco and The Most Serene Republic.
‘"Ted Leo meets Karate melodic punk-rock ... Jumping Ships? Time to get on board people!"
(NME Magazine)
“Jumping Ships are a local band set to play alongside more established acts such as Doves, The Lemonheads and Biffy Clyro”
(The Guardian ‘White Air Festival 09’ preview)
ICE BLACK BIRDS
www.myspace.com/iceblackbirdsuk
Another great Brighton band (clearly there’s something in the water there), Ice Black Birds were Radio 1’s Huw Stephen’s tip of the week at the start of January this year. They have already been hand picked by the likes of Golden Silvers, Joe Gideon and The Shark, Wave Machines, Goldhawks and We Have Band to support them on tour and played various venues across the country such as Concorde 2, Club NME and Proud Galleries amongst others.
Ice Black Birds’ quality lies in being able to create a song with catchy riffs that sound great on first hearing them and yet somehow mange to improve on subsequent listens.
(Brighton Calling review of Club NME gig on 24/06/09)
LISA MADISSON
www.myspace.com/madissonmusic
Lisa is a withtheband favourite and played at our launch back in June. She’ll be doing a short acoustic set to start the evening off and i guarantee her haunting voice and beautiful lyrics will be worth getting down early for. She's also our only lass of the night successfully making the night a non sausage fest.

Hi all,
Slow as molasses in January?

Scenery Chewery and Bon Chic Bon Genre proudly brings Destroy All Monsters to 93 Feet East on Tuesday the 26th Jan and its FREE, FREE, FREE!!!!
A hand picked line up of musical performers and an esteemed jockey of discs spinning the hottest of wax will be taking to the stage.
Highlights promised are an adult size helping of rock noir from DEATHLINE, some sweet acoustic "riballadry" (Editor's note: What?!) courtesy of LIAM BUTLER, head-spining electronica featuring a bone fide string quartet and mystery guests from Welsh wunderkind CULPRIT 1, and to end the night some seriously freaky dancing sounds and audio visuals courtesy of cutting edge experimentalists POSTHUMAN and DIGITONAL.
Providing the musical flow throughout this very special evening will be an exclusive DJ set from Say Yes!, and a special appearance by the curator, London’s very own ‘Bon Chic Bon Genre’ (the hammer that knocks the nails in).

Line Up:
DIGITONAL versus POSTHUMAN
An improvised live showcase of two electronic acts of different disciplines: the beautiful & lush cinematics of modern classical crossover act Digitonal, against the jacked up electro, techno & breaks of Posthuman.
www.myspace.com/digitonal
Digitonal, known for their chameleon-like fluid line-up, ever shifting around central composer Andrew Dobson, have made a name for themselves as one of the leading modern classical & electronica live acts in the UK today. With performances ranging from The Big Chill Festival,
Bestival, Cheltenham Festival of Classical Music, the Gateshead Sage,
to the Akropolis in Prague, and Norberg Festival in Sweden, their live
show encompasses live harp, violin, clarinet, and cello - all bound
together with a backbone of laptop trickery.
www.myspace.com/posthumanmusic
Electro duo Posthuman are currently on a high, on the back of 2009's
"Monsters & Vortices" EP on seminal UK techno imprint B12 Records, and the unstoppable nu-skool electro breaks anthem "Lander", picking up
plays & plaudits from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, DJ 3000, Stanton Warriors, Tayo, Rob Da Bank, Chris Finke and many more, and picking up rave reviews in Mixmag, DJ Mag, IDJ, Barcode, Til Late and more.
CULPRIT 1
www.myspace.com/culpritonemusic
"An artist with an innate ability to focus on a feeling: iDJ. Culprit 1 has also earned the ringing endorsement of the dance community. His latest single 'Tricks' was remixed by none other than Paul Hartnoll of the legendary Orbital, one of Culp's childhood heroes. Paul was quickly followed on remix duties by a leading light of the new breed - award-winning breakbeat producer Rogue Element. Incidentally, Culp has already returned the favour for Mr. Hartnoll - his version of Paul's new single 'Please' was released in April 2007 on the Kids label. Culprit 1's live shows have been consistently entertaining ever since his first effort ended abruptly in a chaotic mess of exploding speakers and overcooked cabling. He recently played a storming set at SXSW in Austin, Texas before touring the UK with American experimentalists Subtle. He's also performed alongside electronica buddies Bonobo, Caribou, High Contrast and Mylo.
DEATHLINE
www.myspace.com/thedeathline
"Female fronted two piece, Yeah Yeah Yeahs territory but darker, Blondie's in there too, simple riffing tunes but with a lot of A1 attitude, some Sonic Youth buzzing artschlock about proceedings too." London Particular "There is a long lineage of bands that stretches from the Velvet Underground through Suicide that lingered around the Jesus and Mary Chain, whose music is so dark and primal, it can only be performed from behind the protection of black Ray-bans. Deathline take on the mantle, with fuzz laden guitars and a drum machine programed by Mo Tucker." Bull & Gate.
LIAM BUTLER
www.myspace.com/liambutlermusic
"A long and exciting career with as many twists and turns as one of those rainbow lollies. He is also a man who can interweve a deep and profound longing into his work. Sounds like a tear in the corner of your eye" (Matt Spokes, unbiased compadre). "This man looks like an idiot, sounds like an idiot but don't let that fool you" (Ralph Dorey, sculptmaster paraphrasing Zizek).
