Hello all,

Scenery Chewer will be rearing its pretty head at The Wilmington Arms to bring you a cracking line up of music for the stupidly low price of £3.

Named after the little seen but much loved film by Wes Anderson and starring Owen Wilson, 'Bottle Rocket', like the film of its namesake, will be a low budget but destined for cult status affair. People will speak of this night in hushed yet awed tones for years to come.

All proceeds will go to the Youth Music charity (www.youthmusic.org.uk).

The night will see the first headline performance by the much loved Record Department, as well as the funky pop stylings of Calling Cairo.

As usual, our resident starlet Laura will be bringing the Paper Horse magic, accompanied by the first Scenery Chewer performance from Robh Hokum.

"We seek, for an evening, to revisit the notion of Earls Court as cultural battleground. This event takes inspiration from Peter Barry's book Poetry Wars: British Poetry of the 1970s and the Battle of Earls Court which uncovers the 'battle' at the National Poetry Society during the 1970s between radical and conservative factions. Thirty-five years after Eric Mottram heralded a 'British Poetry Revival', the question of how to negotiate with the poetic mainstream still infiltrates choices made in the everyday practice of many emerging poets. We present the work of several new poets and hope they will be joined by some of the leading figures of this historical moment to revisit the scenes of an important struggle for creative freedom."

To celebrate their first year in existence, Scenery Chewer is throwing a FREE night of music and merriment at Proud, Camden.

The night will showcase the fantastic work of Choose What You Read, which after six months, is gaining momentum in the press and media, and looks set to slay the dragons that are the London free newspapers.

The night will also see the launch of Choose What You Read New York!
